Milson Island Sports Stadium

You have seen several sports stadiums made up of steel and concrete but the Milson Island Sports Stadium proposal is one of a kind as it designed to offer people a more natural environment. Designed by Allen Jack and Cottier Architects, the stadium is located be located on a small island on Hawkesbury River in New South Wales, Australia. An eco-friendly and oval-shaped stadium, which is made up of 30 percent plywood, is used for sports activities and performances. Since the stadium is located on an island, it is accessible only by boat.

In order to allow sportspersons and performers to have a feel of natural environment, the designers have glazed the bottom four feet of the stadium using vision glass. The stadium gets good natural light which comes inside through several skylights fixed above grills in the roof. The circular roof of the stadium is sloping, which takes the rainwater directly into basins but reject debris. Designers have used computer simulations to design the roof.

Vent grills are present throughout the floor perimeter to allow the entry of air inside the stadium. The roof has 12 turbine vents to release the air. The unique design of the stadium will definitely attract children and it will allow them to remain connected with the nature while playing or performing at the stadium.
