Eco Factor: Zero carbon elevator uses water and solar power to function.

Among the innovations presented at London Festival of Architecture last week, exhibiting great brilliance was a zero carbon elevator. Developed by architect Matthew Lloyd, the pioneering lift uses water and solar power to carry users up the previously inaccessible Duke of York steps next to the Institute of Contemporary Arts.

The eco-friendly elevator includes two large solar panels on the top of the structure, giving power to make the lift functional, while the water-filled weights counterbalance the elevator car. Lloyd received a donation of $15,000 for his project from the Festival itself. The creator is also looking forward to get his ingenious creation patented. You can also hope to see three of his lifts at the London Olympics.
