Eco Factor: Sustainable museum to be powered by renewable solar energy.

Taking advantage of the sunny and warm climate of Xiamen in China, MAD Architects have outlined a sustainable museum that will ‘float’ above the city as a cloud. The eco-friendly structure features an organic, molten metal shape that reflects the beauty of the surrounding environment right onto its walls.

The structure stands atop five stalk-like supports, which also include elevators. The museum, which looks pretty flat, has three levels as it makes use of the park below and the rooftop. The ground floor will have landscaped public areas along with amphitheaters, sports field and meeting spaces.

The area within the structure will provide space for exhibition halls, cafes, restaurants and offices. The rooftop will include artificial landscape and an array of solar panels that generate on-site renewable energy.
