While LED technology is no new marvel that we need highlight and explain in detail today. But we are taking a look at how finally it has managed to make its way in to mainstream market and has done wonderfully well. Eco-friendly technologies are not always commercial successes. In fact, few go on to actually make a difference to the planet. But growing GQ, (Green Quotient- I do not know if this term exists, but it seems pretty apt to coin it. So I officially declare it as official!), has forced the world to accept green technologies along with amazing ingenuity of the makers of these solutions.


LEDs are now making their way in to even Chandeliers and that is a royal step forward from being just lights. Now they come with class, elegance and splendor that will outshine most others. With even OLED technology almost ready to hit the commercial market, this seems an obvious step forward. The world’s largest chandelier made by the Meyda Tiffany chandelier company now adorns the Stanley theatre in Utica New York. This chandelier uses 328 LEDs manufactured by Philips Luxeon uses just 1120 watts of electricity.

This gigantic, spectacular source outshines others by being 7 times more efficient than normal lights. If you have ever seen a LED glow, you will automatically choose it over any other lighting device because of the sheer brilliance of it. The fact that it saves energy up to 7 times is only the icing on the cake. This one is made of steel, brown glass and acrylic and is 35 feet in diameter, 17 feet tall and weighs in at a very heavy 7000 pounds. Also, the chandelier is finished in gold and bronze to complement the theater’s Mexican Baroque Moorish theme. Now that is really saving energy in a large scale!
