James Cameroon’s Avatar captured the imagination of millions across the globe with its visual splendor and amazing effects in 3D that brought an unearthly world to life. But the underlying message of this Hollywood extravaganza was to look at our relationship with our habitat and to be one with the planet. Well, hopefully, we learned a thing or two from that, but if you didn’t, then you can maybe pay a visit to the Home of the Future that is set to take shape on the rooftop of a new furniture mall in Beijing, China!
LAVA’s Home of the Future sports a ETFE geodesic skydome that provides a microclimate for the sustenance of various kinds of flora and fauna. In the concrete jungle that is Beijing, this aims to provide a cool, green and pollution-free escape from the surrounding chaos. This will be a model of the future homes that the company has in mind for the world- homes that are eco friendly at heart, help sustain various forms of vegetation, can thrive on green energy and will provide a clean atmosphere.
On view will be fifteen different living spaces that include bathroom zones, kitchens, awesome bedrooms and various other spaces to hang out and spend a cool evening. So, what is so ‘Avatar-like’ about all this? The magic starts at night when integrated LED lighting takes over to give you a breathtaking picture that is inspired by bioluminescence of underwater coral reefs.
This might not be organic, but the ‘electronic veins’ of the structure will light up to give you a grand show. We cannot wait for the Home of the Future to come alive in Beijing and hope dearly that it lives up to our expectations. Maybe one day we will all be able to live in green homes that offer both healthy and tranquil lifestyle, which relives us from the stress of daily rush.
