+Alpha: Unusual concept bike counts on solar power for a green commute

It is interesting at times to take a look at the wide variety of concept designs that are out there in the open. Many of these brilliant, stunning and sometimes ‘a bit too unreal’ designs generally follow the conventional design of automobiles. Seems like our imagination is limited largely by our world and the shapes and forms within it. But +Alpha tries to get a bit unorthodox by bringing a box-like design to a bike.

Conjured up by a team of Korean designers, the bike is not just unconventional in its design, but also moves away from the conventional sources of power as well. The bike can be folded up into a box and then unfolded just as easily as well. On the side of the central box is an array of photovoltaic panels that will tap into solar power.

This additional power can be used on sloped roads or on the days when you feel a bit too lazy to pedal around. You can also use this to charge up the devices at your home. Parking is simple and easy with its foldable structure and even while parked it can continuously produce energy which will seemingly be store in a Lithium-Ion battery.

The shape of +Alpha might seem a bit strange for those who are used to the traditional bike designs, but if it works well and we can see a prototype up and running, then we are all for these sorts of cool and emission-free solar commuting vehicles. At the end of the day, we are willing to sacrifice a bit of form for the function aspect.
