KleenSpeed EV-X11: A fusion of power and eco technology breaks own record

KleenSpeed EV-X11At a time when the world is still thinking how it will negotiate with future energy demands, electric cars provide some hope. However, considering the level of present technological development and a purist’s infatuation with internal combustion engines, it may not be possible to say what the future holds for the electric cars.

Leaving such debates far behind, KleenSpeed Technologies Inc. has set up a new benchmark with its EV-X11 electric race cars by registering another win at the Refuel SportElectric TT 2011. They also topped in the conversion category as their Eiata — a 1990 Mazda Miata which was converted into an electric car last year after installing KleenSpeed Lite EV Power System.

According to KleenSpeed, the Lite EV Power System addresses all passenger car systems and works with or without a transmission or torque converter. The KleenSpeed EV-X11 was able to maintain a whopping average speed of about 81.5 miles per hour on the Mazda Raceway situated in Laguna Seca.

These statistics suggest that the average lap time of the EV-X11 around the circuit was at least 4 seconds less than the previous year’s record, and this year, it was able to complete its best lap in a time of 1:38.8. Mission motorcycles owned the vehicle which came second in the race with the best lap of 1:43.8.

The most astonishing feature of this car its motor that is capable of delivering a maximum power rating of about 200 horsepower and up to 300 pound-feet of torque. Also, if this motor works simultaneously with the lithium polymer battery (an additional power source which is also installed in this car), then the car gets enough power to reach a top speed of 140 miles per hour.
