Jurmol Yao’s electric bike concept transforms for rescue operations

Multifunctional Electric Rescue Bike

For someone who gorged on Disney’s ‘Duck Tales’ cartoon series when young, I was always fascinated by the inventor Gyro Gearloose featured in the cartoon series – how he would invent things, and how one object could be transformed into something completely different. I remember him inventing a car that could turn into an airplane, and even a submarine. Well, when I came across the inventor Jurmol Yao, it took me back to the golden days of adolescence. This man, Jurmol Yao reminds me somewhat of Gyro Gearloose. A bike which can turn into a rescue machine – impressive indeed. Read on and feel ‘Jurmolness’ washing all over you.

What’s it about?

What is a bike really used for? We take it out on the roads, we ride it for fun, some people ride it to burn calories and some people earn their livelihood on the bike. All those riders in Tour de France and other cycling events around the world will surely agree. Some people ride it for the thrill, some for adventure and some for other reasons entirely. But isn’t it a bit far-fetched to say that a bike can be used by the Coast Guard to rescue people trapped in water? Ask Jurmol Yao and I’m sure he will disagree. That’s because he has invented the Coast-Guard-helper-cum-people-savior-bike.

How it works?

This bike was made to ease the work of the Coast Guard personnel. This bike makes patrolling easier as compared to other bikes. It is also environmentally friendly as it doesn’t require any fuel for its propulsion. And for emergency rescue, you don’t need anything else. If you have forgotten your rescue gear, your mode of transport will suffice. The bike can be turned into a rescue device at will. It can be bent and transformed into a lightweight throwing device. The front wheel can be thrown into the water – just like a lifebuoy. And there is a motor attached to the bike. The back wheel acts as a winch, and the person can be pulled to safety. Production on this multi-functional rescue bike began in August 2011.

This is the mechanism of the bike, and you can always take it out for a ride – it’s sleek and looks magnificent. People will always envy you possessing something unique, and that too good looking. It’s people like Jurmol Yao who are the real ambassadors of innovation and deserve all the accolades and help that they can get. Let’s carry the spirit of innovation forward, and let it make the world a better place.
