Apart from being relatively slow, electric cars are often criticized for taking just too long to get recharged, which makes them incompatible for long drives. JFE Engineering Corp has developed a new electric car charging station that provides a quick charge in a matter of minutes.
The charger will be able to give your EV a 50 percent charge in just 3 minutes on the plug. The company believes that the technology could spread electric car infrastructure throughout the nation’s highways.
The quick charging station won’t come cheap as a single charging station is expected to retail at $63,000. The system runs on traditional electric power. However, the charger has some drawbacks as well, as the JFE’s quick charge requires modifications to the electric car’s software and systems.
