‘Eco-friendly’ insulation oil for use in converters! Japan AE Power Systems Corporation and Lion Corporation have jointly developed a palm fruit-based insulation oil to be used in converters. It’s named Palm Fatty Acid Ester.

This eco-friendly oil can easily be decomposed by microorganisms in soil. Its not only friendly to the lands but also to the air as is an efficient fuel for reducing carbon emissions, as it does not release additional carbon dioxide gas when it burns – a total eco friendly package in the real sense.

The oil is extracted from palm trees, which is a plentiful natural resource. And thus, the oil can be supplied more stably than its petroleum-based counterparts. It is superior to conventional petroleum in insulating performance, the oil has lower viscosity with an excellent cooling effect, thus, making it possible for use in large-capacity converters, as well as contributing to the downsizing of such converters.
