2008 could witness a 200- to 300-megawatt wind farm — one of the nation’s largest – in Northern Iowa. It will be build by Iowa Winds LLC covering about 40,000 acres in Franklin County.
The $200 million project will be considered for approving permits next month by a county zoning board. Ranking the nation’s third now in wind energy behind Texas and California, the Franklin County Wind Farm would surely help Iowa keep pace with these states, creating 30 to 40 technical jobs maintaining turbines.
