Eco Factor: Intel Israel adopts sustainable measures with minimal environmental impact.

Incorporating business with environmental protection, Intel Israel inaugurated its most environmentally friendly office building. Also certified as Israel’s first LEED-certified green building and awarded Gold – the second-highest rating in the LEED certification system, the 11 storey structure dubbed as IDC9 is a $10 million facility. The outstanding green design addresses four main areas of energy, water savings, land and various ecological issues.

The building uses 13% recycled construction material. Apart from that to ensure greater energy efficiency the heat generated from facility’s server room will also be recycled for hot water and winter heating. The room uses smart energy saving electronic gadgetry that turns lights off when not in use. The building features wide double gazed windows along with automatic control systems to manage the flow of sunlight. This combined with roof garden and heat reflecting materials lowers helps to lower and maintain interior temperatures.

The facility’s installed water saving systems which includes collection of water condensed by air conditioners reduces water consumption by up to 30%.
