Solar power is sweeping across parts of India. India’s state of Tamil Nadu would be signaled and guided by the solar panels – yes, several components of the municipal infrastructure – like several new street lights, traffic signals etc. — will go solar.
The fixtures will start getting installed soon. According to a report in The Hindu newspaper, the project includes 25 street lights, 20 street light control systems, 5 traffic signals, 10 cats’ eyes and 50 road studs.
The commissioner of the Tirunelveli Corporation, D. Chandrasekaran said,
Based on the success of the program, it will be extended to other parts (of the city).
