In an Effort to save Lord of the rings!

beautiful new zealand

You must have seen the trilogy? Well, at least one, right? Personally speaking I’m not too fond of it. (But then I’m not really fond of many things, so that’s that) But I surely was impressed by the landscape. It was captivating magic. Much of the magic created on the great journey, was thanks to breathtaking landscape that New Zealand offered as a backdrop to the drama. Green, which was spread everywhere, mountaintops that kissed the skies & nursed the clouds, rivers flowing with unabated joy offered for captivating viewing.

But like every thing else, we have tried to put our ugly footprints on it too. Frequent tourist vehicles are bound to cause pollution that is detrimental to the area. So what do we do? We change our approach. That is exactly what Mark Gilbert and Nikki Marsh, who own and run Hassle-free Tours, have done. They have changed their vehicles, which run frequent tours to this beautiful backdrop, from running on petrol to bio-diesel. The Bio-Diesel is produced in Canterbury by Biodiesel New Zealand. The amazing fact is that it is produced from used cooking oil. You heard it right, used cooking oil.

Hassle-free Tours say it is very happy & proud to be associated with this cause. They carry tours to sights where the famous trilogy “Lord of the Rings” was shot. (Yes, that is the connection). They say that they want to offer a tour to their visitors that leaves them spell bound & leaves the nature untouched.

The idea is great, as New Zealand have set a goal of using 3.4% of all fuel as Bio-Diesel by 2012. It should be a lesson, to all those who go to a beach & trash the place leaving plastic stuff behind that chokes marine animals to death, to all the dim-wits who go to trek & leave behind coke cans & to all those who visit a beautiful place & leave it in a bad shape. Hassle-free tours surely have no Hassles with the environment conservation!
