Eco Factor: Prototype laptop gets powered by efficient solar panels.
In an effort to inspire people to reconsider the use of alternative energy in daily-used consumer goods, industrial designer Jan Leyssens has created a prototype laptop that runs entirely on solar energy. Christened the “IMEC Meets Howest” computer, the system claims to the first-of-its-kind laptop that can be powered by just two solar cells.
By combining the mobility of a laptop with the renewable energy generating capabilities of the solar cells, an ultra-compact mobile device is created. The proof-of-concept device demonstrates the possibility of using large area solar cells in daily used products.
