Modern construction is no longer about conserving and maximizing space. Gone are the days when only good looking interiors and plush exteriors were the preferred choice. Modern construction and designing is as much about how the home is run as it is about how it looks when complete. Conserving and maximizing the available energy sources is the need of the hour. With more and more individuals getting environmentally conscious about how modern technology would be used to conserve not just energy sources but also the money in their pocket, designing homes with ‘green features’ is of paramount importance.

Independence Energy Homes (IEH) is an organization that is looking to revamp and remodel not just the constructions and homes that are budding across the planet, but is also trying to revamp the traditional perception of people regarding homes. They are trying to build green homes across the planet, which are of course popularly referred to as “Zero-Energy Homes”. Basically zero energy homes run by producing al the energy needed to run them. They do this by harnessing the energy of the elements. The sun and the wind provide with endless amount of energy free of cost, only if we know how to extract what we need.

IEH designed the first of 2000 planned residences in a new modern village of Akodo Ise, Nigeria, created with a focus on societal benefits. The TechVille Prototype House is basically designed to be a zero energy home by using the energy of the sun. The entire home is run by the solar energy that is trapped and used by converting it aptly in to the required form. Built on a 4500 Square feet of land it has 5 bedrooms. It is a green structure that provides automated hot water on demand and has glass walls for amazing ventilation and has state-of-the-art facilities that you wish to see in any modern home.

The entire home is driven by solar power with features such as Zero Energy, PV System, Off-grid, Passive and Active Cooling, Sewing Room, Study Mezzanine, Home Gym, Game Room, Home Theater, 3-Car Garage and loads of other features. It also has Water Conserving Fixtures, Daylight harvesting, Rainwater Capture and Greywater System; all of which help you maximize your water resources. The home is truly green and many such constructions if taken to people might just help the planet recover its balance a lot quickly than we ever thought.
