Hyundai unveils Korea’s first highway capable electric vehicle

Hyundai has unveiled the company’s and Korea’s first Full Speed Electric Vehicle – the BlueOn. The zero-emission vehicle features a compact body based on the company’s i10 compact hatchback. Hyundai is planning to provide 30 BlueOn vehicles as test fleets to various government organizations in Korea.

The BlueOn is equipped with a highly-efficient electric motor, which is powered by an innovative 16.4KWh lithium-polymer battery technology. The high-performance battery pack helps the BlueOn boast a maximum speed of 130kph and a 0-100kph time of 13.1 seconds.

The car can travel up to 140km on a single charge and can be recharged via a common 220V household socket or a 380V industrial charging station. Under the household power, the battery will be fully charged in six hours, while the quick charge method than charge the battery to 80 percent capacity in just 25 minutes.
