To add to the environment-friendly hydrogen-powered cars, researchers have discovered a way for absorbing and storing hydrogen safely and efficiently using “nanoporous” polymers – which are filed with nanoscopic holes.
We all have accepted the fact that hydrogen is a fuel of the future, contributing to curbing climate change. It is capable of producing clean electricity, generating only water as waste. But, the problem always lies with the fact that, since it must normally be stored as a liquid, under extreme pressure, processing it becomes expensive and handling dangerous.
So this finding provides a solution to this, by providing a storage medium capable of absorbing hydrogen readily. This would also help to transport it cheaply in the future.
This could be effectively used inside a fuel tank of a vehicle and within containers used to transport hydrogen.
