All of us are aware that electronic waste from devices like mobile phones contains toxins that are damaging to our environment. Mishandling millions and billions of non-functional cell phones needs to be checked. But how is it possible. Well the company Hop-On has unveiled the Hop1800 GSM phone for just $10. Don’t gimme that ‘are you nuts’ kinda look. You’d be thinking that at that (unbelievably reasonable) price, our planet will be filled with e-waste landfills at an alarming rate. But dear, don’t be hasty in giving your opinion. The green aspect over here is that the company is offering a 5% rebate for returning the phone to encourage recycling the phone. If you calculate in actual figures then it’s a petty sum to get back but then you are also shelling out a negligible amount for being connected right? And obviously don’t expect much out of this extra-reasonably priced phone.

With no display screen and a tactile numeric keypad with Braille markings, this cell is indeed trying to swim against the tide! Is it possible to conjure up an image of a cell phone with out a LCD screen in this age of touchscreens? Offered in two models, a dual-band 850/1900MHz and the 900/1800MHz, it comes with a local SIM card compatibility for more than 40 domestic wireless carriers. However they have been kind enough to allow a talk time of up to 4 hours with 150 hours of standby time.
