One of the major complaints with modern electronic gadgets is that they just consume too much power when in a standby mode. While it still is our own fault that we put them in that state for long durations with our lazy ways, it seems ironic that we are actually trying to resolve this issue by reducing the power that the gadgets consume in standby mode. The simpler and better way would probably be to make sure that we actually do not leave them on for hours together when we know we are not going to use them.
Anyway, Grundig has found a bit of a solution to the problem with its new Grundig Vision 6 ECO LCD television. The amount of standby power consumed by ECO is cut down to 0.1W and the operating draw is much reduced too, at around 76W. That’s up to 48 percent less than comparable normal LCD TVs and that signifies a huge amount of power being saved. This will please the lazy environmentalists who wish to save the planet but are a little too busy dozing off to do that.
The Grundig Vision 6 ECO range will be available in October 2008. Two panel sizes will be available initially, 26-inches and 32-inches and the price is not yet disclosed. While it will be close to the normal LCD price tag, this will be a lot greener option than normal and will help reduce the carbon footprint of your home.
