Green roof, a makeover for Clinton’s Library

clinton lib

The William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas has already earned an award from the U.S. Green Committee for environmental design, boasting features like floors made from recycled tires and solar panels. Clinton’s library now has a new environmentally friendly element with the addition of a green roof. The $165 million library facility’s new roof has 90 species of plants and over four truckloads of soil that offers insulation and captures rainwater, all while reducing energy usage. If the plants need any extra water, the library can turn on a buried irrigation system that will use 90 percent less water than common sprinklers or hoses.
