Eco Factor: Self-powered turnstile concept.
You might have passed through hundreds of turnstiles in shopping malls or subway stations without figuring out any other uses of the system. The VIVA Design Team at the Guangdong University of Technology in China has drawn inspiration from these common devices to conceptualize a self-powered turnstile – the Green Pass.
The Green Pass combines the functions of a normal turnstile and a renewable energy generator in a sleek package. The system harnesses the energy produced when people pass through the turnstile to generate energy. This energy is used to power the turnstile for swiping cards, inserting coins, tickets or counting the number of people etc.
