GM and Dubai’s Roads and Transportation Authority had an eco-friendly press conference on November 15, 2007 to announce an agreement for the operation of hybrid Chevy Tahoes and Chevrolet Malibus in the city. In January 2008, Dubai’s Roads and Transportation Authority will do an operational trial of 10 GM hybrid taxi’s – 5 all-new Chevy Tahoe’s, equipped with 2-mode hybrid engines and 5 Chevy Malibu’s. According to Matar Al Tayer, chairman of RTA, hybrid public buses will also be added to the fleet soon. This announcement is certainly groundbreaking and inspiring because it demonstrates the common goal of General Motors, Dubai RTA and the Government of Dubai to reduce their impact on the environment. Other nations take a cue please, if an oil-rich country like Dubai can do it, so can other countries. via: medindia Image
