The Google Earth’s French answer seems to have hit the market hard with the Geoportal being clicked by nearly five million Internet users on the first day of its operation, according to the developers of the portal. It offered high-resolution aerial imagery of France.
The traffic flooding the site was such that only about one in five has been able to connect to the Geoportal — geoportail.fr. The site is developed by the state-funded National Geographic Institute (IGN). It has waged a war against its rival US pioneer Google Earth, which has already achieved the planetary success of the in the field.
Hope the site would make its traffic-flooding platform for a noble cause to aware and educate the world of its environment and its issues that need addressing by every individual.
