If Firefly had its way, then probably the whole world would be powered by solar energy under one giant roof. The Brighton based company provides renewable energy based power solutions and high end technical production services to the outdoor event market. Orion is an invention of the company that drives large and amazingly audacious events on purely the energy of the sun. The big stage is powered by LED lights and state-of-the-art sound technology which is driven solely on the light from the cosmos.
Orion is UK’s first mobile solar generator of its type offering up to 15Kw of mains voltage power. The Orion system is used to power a vast variety of equipment including PA systems, screens, lighting, computers and will power everything from juicers to power tools. Orion is powered entirely by the sun and its battery backup system means it will keep running through the night. The system is silent running and is safer than petrol or diesel generators as there is no combustion process. This means that the biggest concerts and the grandest shows in the world are run on nothing but renewable energy. This means that zero-emission shows are now a possibility!
Firefly is a carbon neutral company operating all of its own transport using UK produced Bio fuels from recycled cooking oil. Offices are powered using renewable energy. All office supplies are sourced locally and ethically. Carbon emissions are monitored and offset. The company has probably the finest eco-ethics around today it shows in Orion. The structure looks as good, if not better than the best in the world. It has everything you need in terms of glitz and glamour and does not compromise on the ‘bling’ factor despite running on only solar power. The Orion stage could use some windmills too though.
