Japanese trains, which are better known for speed, punctuality and efficiency, would be adding one more feather in their cap with the introduction of hybrid trains. And next time you travel to Japan, do board these zipping trains while commuting.

Now Japan can proudly claim to have the best and the latest railways in the world with the induction of this environmentally friendly hybrid train for commercial use in the country. The move has come in the wake of efforts to reduce global warming by cutting down harmful emissions like nitrogen oxide and other such harmful effusion.

Named as Kiha E200
, the train is manufactured by East Japan Railway Company, and would be cutting down the fuel expenditure by as much as 20 per cent and also run with less noise. It is also designed to run on battery-operated diesel engine and set for its maiden journey on July 31, on Koumi tracks in central Japan. The train’s battery will be recharged from braking curves as at it enters various stations on its way.

Once Kiha E200 sets for its journey, the company JR East will examine its performance on the 48.9-mile track and will then go for its large-scale production. If all goes well then Kiha E200 would be put into services.

Indeed Japs have proved that they are the trend setters in technology and so far have been able to maintain their supremacy in this cutthroat era of competition.
