Emergent Architects to adorn Beijing’s largest hotel with green attributes

With its grandiose scale of a whopping 1,500 rooms and an exclusively posh yet convenient location that is adjacent to the Beijing International Airport in the 5th Ring, this behemoth of a hotel is all set to make its eminent mark in the field of sustainability. Christened as the Beijing National Hotel, the 303 m long building is already expected to be a major landmark, ornamenting the cityscape of the Chinese capital.

Coming to the exteriors, the adamantly organic form coalesces into three distinct rings. Each of them are fused together by accessible, draped surfaces. The glassy facade of the building will be composed from lightweight cable-net structure, strategically punctuated by windows and sky-lights for induction of natural light. This facade will also incorporate solar thermal pipes and grey water capture grooves for further accentuation of energy efficient sustainability.

Now, coming to the interiors, the void rings will culminate in spatial atriums, which will be specifically covered by sturdy, anti-corrosive ETFE plastic domes (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene). The main enclosed area would also fascinatingly house a 10,000 sq m rainforest as a part of the interior green landscape. Other adaptable zoning attributes include a myriad of spatial elements including conference halls, hotel service areas, business suites and of course rooms (fanning out along the ring’s circumference). The flexible design will also integrate a sky restaurant at the very top level with glorious views all around the capital city.
