Eco Factor: Zero-emission modular car concept powered by electricity.

The “Mo-Du-Lo” concept car by designer Thierry Dumaine is a modular car that can be operated in three different versions to suit individual requirements. The vehicle is designed to be powered by electrical energy and can also be manually powered when there isn’t much juice left in its onboard batteries.

The vehicle can be configured in three version – Mo Version, Du Version and Lo Version. When in Mo Version the vehicle is a monocycle and can seat a single person. Propulsion in this version is provided by a set of pedals. The Du Version is a four-wheel car with two monocycles attached to it, forming a six-wheel car that can accommodate two people.

In the Du Version, renewable electricity is generated by an onboard array of photovoltaic cells, which is then stored in onboard batteries. If the batteries run out, the vehicle can also be pedaled by the two monocycles attached to it. The Lo version is when many cars and monocycles are connected to form trains of different sizes. This version is suited for long distance travels as the electric motors, solar panels and batteries are pooled to achieve more range.
