Eco Factors: Living Xmas trees to be replanted in neighborhoods after the holidays.
The eco-minded residents of San Francisco have a unique opportunity to keep their eco credentials intact this Christmas. SF Environment Department has teamed up with Friends of the Urban Forest to offer living Christmas trees to all residents. Unlike conventional clear-cut evergreens, these living trees will be planted in the neighborhood once the holiday season is over.
This highly applauded proposal lets interested people adopt a tree for the holiday season. Though they will not be able to adopt evergreen trees, their adopted trees would become a gift to the society long after the holiday season is over. Residents can select from four different species of trees, and once the holiday season is over the trees will be picked up from your home and planted in the neighborhood. Adopting a tree will cost $90 and interested people can order them until 8th December.
The Dark Side:
We sincerely appreciate the efforts of SF Environment Department, whose efforts will prevent hundreds of evergreens from being cut down for Christmas.
