Eco Factor: Li-ion batteries for electric vehicles last longer without any deterioration.
Putting an end to fossil fuel use and shifting the focus on a more ecofriendly fuel for powering cars is what the environment needs at present. Whenever we talk of green cars, electricity is the fuel that we envision. However, with the current lifetime of batteries still less than the engines of a conventional car, electric cars aren’t as popular as they should have been for a positive effect on the environment.
Battery provider Southern California Edison (SCE) is making waves with a new development, which they claim, lasts 180,000 miles without any significant deterioration. The tests mean that an average driver who drives for not more than 15,000 miles a year would be able to use the car for more than 12 years without the need for a battery change. Apart from an increase in the operation time, the batteries are also one-sixth the size of an actual battery used in plug-in hybrid vehicles driven today.
