Eco Factor: Li-ion batteries for BMW’s EV to be supplied by Bosch-Samsung venture.
BMW recently announced that the company will pull out of the Formula 1 circuit at the end of this season as they’re planning to work more on sustainability and environmental issues. The company has for long been working on its anticipated EV that is to hit the market in the first half of the next decade, and today news surfaced that the vehicle will be powered by Li-ion batteries that will be supplied by SB LiMotive, a joint venture between Bosch and Samsung SDI.
The car is an offshoot from BMW’s Project i, which is tasked to develop new vehicles for cities with more than 10 million inhabitants. BMW has stated that SB LiMotive was selected as a supplier because of the company’s knowledge about the best in technology and the best in automotive expertise.
