Eco Factor: Efficient solar cells float and generates 800 times more energy than conventional silicon solar cells.
In what might be termed as a breakthrough in solar technology, Pyron Solar, a San Diego-based company, has announced the development of a new technology that will change the way solar power is generated and used. The company has developed a unique system that magnifies the energy of the sun up to 6500 times and the output is about 800 times more than other conventional solar cells of the same size.
The company’s system is based on the use of acrylic lenses that focus the light of the sun on solar panels. Since this technique makes the cells so hot that they can burn asphalt in seconds, the cells are made to float on water making them one of a kind.
The company claims that a cluster of cells about the size of team’s logo on a football field produces the same amount of energy as an entire football field full of conventional flat panels.
