Eco Factor: Carbon kiosks to generate fund for green programs.

If you are a frequent air traveler, but don’t want to have your carbon footprint swell with every travel, San Francisco is gearing up for an alternative. San Francisco International Airport will be able to purchase carbon offsets for their flight right on the entry gate.

The fund collected through the program will help support tree planting projects in the area. SF has chosen to source their offsets from the Garcia River Forest, a conservation-based forest management project, which was previously deforested. The funds generated will help bring back glory to the forest with Redwood and Douglas fir trees that will also absorb and store CO2.

A part of the funds will also go to the San Francisco Carbon Fund, which will help realize other carbon reduction projects.
