Eco Factor: A 15-meter-high, solar powered Christmas tree commences Christmas celebrations in Japan.

Be it robotics, technology or gadgets, the Japanese always tend to be one of the first in every sphere. To keep them in the lead in everything happening on this planet, the Mitsukoshi department store in Tokyo, has unveiled a 15-meter-high solar-powered Christmas tree. The tree with some 200,000 LEDs will be on display till December 25.

The Dark Side:

We all want to celebrate Christmas, but keeping a tree lit up with solar energy for about two months is just a mere waste of resources. The same solar panels that will keep the 200,000 LEDs glowing in the tree could have been used for something more useful in the department store or elsewhere.
