Eco Factor: 200MW of energy to be generated by Duke Energy’s latest wind farm project.

After building eight wind power projects in the United States out of which three are constructed in Wyoming, Duke Energy is making news with a new endeavor to build another wind power project in Wyoming that will generate a total of 200MW of clean electricity. If everything for the company goes according to their plans, the plant should be online in 2010.

The 200MW Top of the World WindPower Project will be located outside of Casper and will be built on 17,000 acres of private and public land which the company has on a long-term lease. When operational the plant will be able to power about 60,000 average homes with clean electricity.

PacifiCorp will purchase the electricity generated by the plant under a 20-year power purchase agreement, which will then be routed to urban homes.
