Eco Factor: Poultry waste to be converted into electricity without using fossil fuels.

Bangladesh is reeling under 2,000MW of electricity shortage, for which authorities in the country intend to convert poultry waste into electricity in order to meet the demand. With over 100,000 poultry industries producing an enormous amount of animal waste, there will be no shortage of raw materials. The Bangladesh Poultry Owners Association is now planning to build a waste-to-electricity plant that will use all that waste to generate about 50MW of electricity in just three years.

Currently the Advance Animal Science Ltd (AAS) is running a small scale plant which produces 120KW of electricity from the manure of 4,200 poultry industries, which was built at the cost of about $3,800. AAS now claims that they’ve mastered the technique and have reduced the cost of building a plant that would generate about 50MW of electricity in three years and about 500MW of electricity by 2021.
