Eco Factor: Electric commuter bike ideal for a short-distance commutes.
Analysis points out that 50% of all distances covered with a car are less than five kilometers and about 90% of all distances are shorter than 90km, and mostly all urban commuters drive alone in their cars, which carry four or more seats. Industrial designer Tobias Bexten thinks that the world today demands more efficient vehicles and there isn’t a real need to design next-gen SUVs and fuel-guzzling super cars, as in the future not many will have enough money to fuel them.
Tobias’ futuristic thinking has ended in an urban commuter bike concept known as STEM. The electric commuter is a three-wheeled vehicle that is designed to replace traditional cars and is ideal for regular urban commutes. Powered by electric motors, the vehicle is designed to run on lithium-ion batteries, which can be charged via a city-wide network of charging spots, which may also be powered by off-grid solar energy. The vehicle can also be rented to daily commuters, which allows them to do their bit for the environment without actually purchasing the vehicle.
