Eco Factor: Hybrid horse carriage eases load on horse with an electric assist.
Animal rights activists normally complain about the use of animals for carriages that are used in places where cars cannot replace them. An Austrian coachman named Mario Steiner is trying to reduce the load on his horses by developing the world’s first hybrid horse carriage.
The horse carriage uses two horses to carry passengers up steep mountain roads, and when the motor is switched off the animals pull all the weight and recharge the onboard batteries as well, but as the terrain gets touch Steiner switches on the motors to assist the horses.
