EcoFactor: Lights made out of damaged PET bottles and caps.
I am a big fan of designs made out of recycled materials. Every now and then we try to bring to you gorgeous eco-friendly products and here’s another one by London based studio and gallery Lula Dot. CAPtivate are ambient lights made from plastic bottle tops and caps. These are collected and designed in a manner that it will change the light’s color and pattern. The lights will go on display at the Lighten Up exhibition.
It’s fabulous that the designers are being extremely environmentally sensitive and coming up with more and innovative ways of making the best use of the otherwise hazardous PET bottles. The shelf life of a beverage in PET is usually shorter than in glass bottles. In such a situation, an idea through which waste can be transformed into something useful and beautiful is certainly worth applauding.
The Dark Side:
Coming up with such innovative ideas certainly is a welcome change. Such items encourage eco-friendliness; hence, I don’t see a downside to it.
