Eco Factor: Trashed Boeing 747 converted into an eco-hotel.
Old and off-service aircraft are usually recycled for aluminum and some aircraft displays that have not weathered out during the long service time. Some people in Stockholm changed the fate of an old Boeing 747 jumbo jet and transformed the interiors into a 25-room hotel, which by all means is the first in the world.
Each room covers an area of 65 square feet and is furnished with bunk beds. The rooms also feature overhead luggage storage similar to the one you get in your routine flights, and flat-screen TVs. The fully functional hotel also has a reception area andcafé. Toilets and showers are at the rear of the aircraft. The most important part of an aircraft, the cockpit, has been transformed into a wedding suite.
The Dark Side:
65-square-foot rooms and shared toilets are not what one would like in a hotel. The hotel stay will surely attract people who have never ever seen an aircraft, but would not at all be a mesmerizing experience for others.
