Eco Factor: Energy-efficient homes to be built by Velux Group.
Velux Group has unveiled the Model Home 2020 project to develop sustainable housing for people living in European countries. The group is planning to build six full-scale, experimental houses across five European countries.
The company points out that people living in European countries spend up to 90 percent of their time indoors in buildings that consume over 40 percent of the total energy consumption, and up to 30 percent of the building mass does not contribute to nor provide a healthy indoor climate.
Searching for better homes and better construction techniques, the company has unveiled two buildings, the Home for Life, which is a solar-powered single-family home with energy-efficient features including the use of natural light and air and the Green Lighthouse, a faculty building for the University of Copenhagen.
