Eco Homes: Revamping old freight containers into brand new homes!

re 1 wDPIH 7071

EcoFactor: A new building technique that uses old freight containers to build new green homes that are not just cost effective but also save energy and time.

Using recycled containers from shipping industry and other sectors of commercial freight transport has become pretty popular in the last few months. This new system of building homes is being dubbed “Container Architecture,” and the new technique is making both environmentalists and architects really happy. This is the Redondo Beach Container Home; it is a container home fabricated out of eight cargo containers of different shapes and sizes. This new technique of building uses special ceramic insulation technique developed by NASA for their space shuttles.

The new homes get their final look when the transformed containers are fitted with multi-skin acrylic sheets and pre-fabricated roofs. They come with excellent natural insulation and heating systems that require less energy than in case of conventional homes. These homes are strong and sturdy and offer a bug proof-hassle free home. The otherwise useless containers are transformed into cool homes, and that is good news both for consumers and the planet.

The Dark Side:

The new technique still uses plenty of energy during the construction process, and the limited availability of the high-end technique involved limits it from really spreading across the globe.
