Eco Factor: Solar-powered prefabricated mobile living unit.

Designed by Olga Kalugina, the BLOOM is a mobile living module designed to offer hi-end living on renewable energy sources far from civilization. The self-sustaining module works independently and harnesses solar energy for heat and power.

The lateral parts of the module are designed to fold into a smaller unit to ease transport. On reaching a destination, the module can easily be unfolded from the center to the outside, considerably increasing internal space of the module.

The BLOOM carries all equipment needed to support six people on an outdoor vacation for a week. The living space includes the entrance zone, three private living zones and the general area, which provides space for the dining zone, the sanitary-and-hygienic block and the kitchen.

The private living zone is an open room for two people. The first berth is a top folding shelf, while the second berth is transformed to a sofa and a bench in the afternoon, separating a workplace from the general zone.

The self-sufficient living module harvests solar energy through an array of solar panels mounted on the roof of the unit. The harvested energy is stored in batteries, which provide all the power that the BLOOM requires.

The designer believes that the mobile living module can be transported easily to any location via air, land or sea, since the size of the module is multiple to the sizes of standard containers. It is also possible to connect modules together when more space is required.
