Eco Factor: Concept phone designed to be powered by solar energy.

Trying to reduce the amount of e-waste that is generated by people always looking for upgrades of their electronic gear, industrial designers Shao Wei Huang, Chia-Yi Cho, Yu Pei Kuo and Chung Kai Chiang have come up with a concept cellphone dubbed Label With Green. The solar-powered concept phone comes with Eco-Green Electronic Labels that are designed to power individual components of the phone.

The idea is to make the phone run only on its essential systems till the time you’re not actually making a phone call or texting. When need arises you can attach Eco-Green Electronic Label, which is actually a solar paper label that can juice up various components.

The labels are attached on the rear cover to power the component that you want to use. The idea seems good, but the implementation is weird. Considering that most of us are too busy to make a phone call, it seem impractical that users will be interested in a phone that needs them to figure out the component they have to use and then attach labels to get it powered.
