Eco Factor: Portable Media Player powered by solar energy.
Shiro Corp. has launched a new portable media player, the Shiro SQ-S, which carries a large solar panel on its rear side that can power the player in case you are nowhere near any USB port. The player boasts 16GB of onboard storage, support for all major music formats and an FM tuner that is able to record broadcasts.
The company claims that a fully charged battery will provide up to 38 hours of nonstop music and up to 10 hours of video. It comes with a 1.8” 65K color display for photo viewing and watching your favorite videos.
The Dark Side:
The PMP does show the potential of solar energy in portable electronics, but fails to provide any features to set it apart from the crowd. Moreover, users would have to convert a video file to an unconventional SMV format before it can be viewed.
