Eco Factor: Energy-saving lamps that are designed to create awareness about the impending disaster that global warming holds for the planet.
There are instances when you just need to get your point across to people and they will understand the urgency of the issue. Then there are times when you need to drive home the point with some force. Designer Janne Kyttanen feels that the second approach is necessary right now to make sure people across the planet wake up to realize the consequences of global warming. But unlike politicians who waste energy and time just rambling about the same old issues, the designer used his creative juices to come up with a new awareness medium. The “Riot” is an energy-saving lamp that is specifically designed to cut down on energy consumption and reduce waste that comes with packaging, storage and transportation.
The lamp uses new Megaman energy-saving bulbs to reduce energy consumption, and the design of the lamp is hard-hitting enough to make sure you get eco-friendly. The “Punk”-styled design is really cool, even on its own, and surely this will catch on among the metallic heads!
The Dark Side:
The lamps could have used LED lights to give them not just better energy-saving ability but also a brighter and far more marketable look.
