Eco Factor: Energy-efficient monitor consumes 1W on standby.

Princeton has joined the green race with an entry-level 16:9 Full HD panel with better pixel resolution than other 19-inchers developed by the company. The PTFBGF-22RW is a RoHS directive display that consumes a maximum of 55 watts and a mere 2 watts and 1 watt in sleep and standby modes. Coming with a Digital Contrast Controller, the LCD gets 10 times dynamic contrast, enabling it to jump from the native 1000:1 contrast to 10,000:1 with just a click.

Other features include a 170-degree viewing angle and response time of 5ms with 300cd/m2 brightness. On the connectivity side the monitor boasts one VGA input, an audio jack for additional speakers, VESA mount system and a pair of HDMI inputs for high-definition output. The monitor will hit Japanese markets this October for $300.

The Dark Side:

The peak usage of 55 watts is not as low as an energy-efficient monitor should boast of. Moreover, the monitor will initially be launched just in Japan, so people living in other parts of the world might have to wait a bit longer.
