EcoFactor: A streetlight concept that uses discarded batteries with little juice left in them to power up brilliant LED lights and thereby reducing toxic waste.

This is one of the most innovative and beautiful designs that you will ever come across. Energy Seed is a concept streetlight design that is all the more special as it deals with a very widespread and deep-rooted eco-problem. Most people just dump batteries along with the rest of the trash and most often these batteries still have some juice left in them. The discarded batteries end up in landfills and lead to the seepage of toxic waste into soil. Energy Seed uses the discarded batteries to power up the LED lights that are used in a beautifully crafted fashion. While the used batteries may not be good enough to power the gadgets around your home, they still have sufficient power to power the LED lights. All you need to do is encourage the community to drop off their batteries in the Energy Seed’s slots.

This not only conserves power, but it ensures that after the batteries are sucked dry, they can be collected and sent to proper recycling units as all of them would be found at the stem of Energy Seed. Designed by Sungwoo Park and Sunhee Kim, they look both visually captivating and ecologically safe.

The Dark Side:

While the concept of street lighting is cool, the whole idea might work a lot better if a “lamp” version for domestic use was also available.
