Eco Factor: Energy efficient LED lamp.
While the need for energy efficient lighting solutions has given rise to the LED era, designers all over the world have started to exploit the advantages that come with LEDs. Not only do these light bulbs save a lot of energy, they also come in a small size, do not release any heat and have a substantially longer life span than any other lighting system conventionally used.
Mori Love has made use of these lovely little devices to develop a lamp called the “Cube.” Based on LEDs, the Cube is made out of polycarbonate and an aluminum base. The lamp has been designed for walls, tables and floors. The contents inside the cube can be replaced to fit the desires of the customer.
The Dark Side:
Polycarbonate and aluminum are not the kind of materials that we want in any ecofriendly lighting fixture. If the designer is able to replace the aluminum stand with something more ecofriendly like bamboo, then we see no reason why the Cube should not be a part of every eco household.
