Apple has announced the new iPhone 3GS, which will be based on the iPhone OS 3.0. Coming in two variants of 16GB and 32GB memory capacity, the device will feature a faster processor, built-in compass, built-in video capture, editing voice dialing and voice commands, and improved camera with autofocus, auto-exposure and auto balance. The 3MP camera is capable of shooting videos that can be shared via YouTube, MobileMe, MMS or email.

The new model will let users surf the web from anywhere, letting them share their 3G connection on the iPhone with their laptop. The iPhone 3GS also has improved battery life by providing 12 hours of talk time, 30 hours of audio, 9 hours of Wi-Fi and 10 hours on video playback.

The iPhone 3GS uses mercury-free LCD, arsenic-free glass and is BDF-free, contributing to make it environment friendly. It is expected to be available on June 17. As for the pricing, the 16GB iPhone 3GS will come with a price tag of $199 and the 32GB model will cost $299.
